Scott McTominay is adamant the under-pressure Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the man to continue Alex Ferguson s legacy at Manchester United.
United have underwhelmed at the start of manager Solskjaer s first full season in charge, winning two of their opening six Premier League matches and only scraping past Astana and Rochdale in cup competitions.
Ed Woodward, the club s executive vice-chairman, has stressed the importance of patience and midfielder McTominay hopes the Norwegian will be given time to implement his vision.
David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho have all tried and failed to provide long-term stability since the legendary Ferguson retired in 2013.
It takes time for a new manager coming in, McTominay told The Mirror.

Cristiano Ronaldo is verging on ridiculous after reaching a Champions League record of 100 goals, according to his former Manchester United team-mate Michael Carrick.
The Real Madrid star became the first player to reach a century in the competition with a hat-trick in Tuesday s 4-2 quarter-final second-leg win over Bayern Munich at Santiago Bernabeu.
Ronaldo s first 15 Champions League goals came for United – including a towering header in the victorious 2008 final against Chelsea in Moscow – before he joined Madrid in 2009 for what was then a world-record fee of €94million.
The 32-year-old has gone on to win the trophy on two further occasions, and Carrick is amazed that he has reached such a milestone.
It s verging on ridiculous, really, to s…
Raheem Sterling says he leaves Manchester City as a man as he bid farewell to the club ahead of his transfer to Chelsea.
Sterling is set to end his seven-year association with City and join Premier League rivals Chelsea in a reported £50m move.
The former Liverpool forward is said to have flown out to Los Angeles to complete the transfer and link up with Chelsea s pre-season tour.
Sterling won four Premier League titles, the FA Cup and four EFL Cups during his time at the club.
He also developed into one of the most dynamic attacking threats in European football under Pep Guardiola, scoring 85 Premier League goals since the former Barcelona boss took over as manager in 2016.

Raheem Sterling says Manchester City are fully focused on completing a treble after beating Aston Villa 2-1 in Sunday s EFL Cup final.
City lifted the trophy for a third year in a row and the fifth time in seven seasons thanks to goals from Sergio Aguero and Rodri inside the opening 30 minutes at Wembley.
Mbwana Samatta s header gave spirited Villa hope and City survived a scare when Bjorn Engels header was turned onto the post by Claudio Bravo late on.
Sterling concedes his side have no hope of overhauling the 22-point gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool, but the forward is eyeing up more silverware in the Champions League and FA Cup.

Having reached the final of the competition last year, another quarter-final this time around for Jurgen Klopp s men would be fantastic amidst their battle for the Premier League crown. Despite that, the Reds come into the match in slightly indifferent form having only won three out of their last eight games in all competitions. As a matter of fact, they have failed to find the net in t…
Edwin van der Sar has signed a new deal to stay on as Ajax chief executive officer until June 2025.
The 51-year-old has been part of Ajax s boardroom set-up for the past decade and has held his current position since 2016.
Van der Sar had a little over a year to run on his existing contract, but Ajax confirmed on Friday he has extended those terms by a further two years.
A lot has happened in the last ten years at Ajax, Van der Sar, who also spent nine years in goal for Ajax, told the club s official website.
In these years we have grown with the club in many ways. The international recognition has, mostly due to the results of the first team, grown substantially.
But there is also an amazing organisation behind that success. Our goal is to…
Kai Havertz s move from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea is bad for the Bundesliga, according to Germany boss Joachim Low.
Germany allowed Havertz to leave their training camp in Stuttgart on Friday to complete a switch to Chelsea, where he signed a five-year contract.
The Blues also raided the Bundesliga for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, with Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr having also arrived at Stamford Bridge as reinforcements for the 2020-21 season.
Low was disappointed to see Havertz leave the Bundesliga but hopes playing abroad can help him have a bigger impact with the national team.
I see it as a negative when such great talents like Kai are no longer in the Bundesliga, Low told a news conference on Saturday.
But I…
Virgil van Dijk said it was a great honour to be named the Premier League Player of the Season, after winning the votes of fans, team captains and a panel of experts.
The 27-year-old Liverpool centre-back is the first defender to win the award since Manchester City s Vincent Kompany did so in 2011-12, having played in all of Liverpool s 37 league matches ahead of their final-day clash with Wolves.
Across those 37 appearances, Van Dijk was part of a defence that kept 20 clean sheets and collected 29 victories, and the award comes after he was named the PFA Players Player of the Year in April.
It s a great honour and I m very proud, Van Dijk told the Premier League s official website upon receiving his latest honour.

Thiago Motta will take over as Bologna s head coach following the dismissal of Sinisa Mihajlovic, the club s chief executive has revealed.
Having led the club to a winless start to the Serie A season, taking three points from five games, Mihajlovic was relieved of his duties on Tuesday.
Mihajlovic took charge of the Rossoblu in January 2019, continuing in his role despite a leukaemia diagnosis in July 2019.
While youth coach Luca Vigiani will take the reins for Sunday s Serie A meeting with Fiorentina, it is former Barcelona, Inter and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Motta who will take permanent charge next week.

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is set to compete in his fourth World Cup finals, having been named in Croatia s squad for the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
Zlatko Dalic s side – beaten by France in the final of the 2018 edition in Russia – begin their campaign on November 23 against Morocco, then tackling Canada and Belgium in Group F, standing as favourites to advance as group winners.
Croatia boast an experienced squad, with captain Modric included alongside Chelsea s Mateo Kovacic, Inter s Marcelo Brozovic and Tottenham s Ivan Perisic, though key players from the 2018 campaign such as Ivan Rakitic and Danijel Subasic have bowed out of international football, while Mario Mandzukic has retired altogether and will instead be on Dalic s bench as an assistant coach.
